Why Take Obedience Classes?
Because, a dog’s ability to understand and respond to commands can save
his life!
Obedience classes are a great way to socialize with other “dog people,” but more importantly, a way to socialize your dog. It's lots of fun for both of you. Your dog gets to be in the company of other dogs, see new sites, smell new smells, hear new sounds, and be the center of your world for a full hour.
Training is also a tremendous bonding experience between you and your dog, which is so important for a successful relationship.
Lack of education is the worst excuse for giving up a dog, but one of the most common. Dogs are NOT dumb. They just need to be taught the rules and what’s expected of them. And with so many trainers and methods available, there is no excuse not to train your dog.
Obedience training builds your dogs’ self confidence. It also relieves boredom and provides exercise, both of which help to eliminate unwanted behavioral issues and maintain proper mental and physical health.
Again, socialization is so IMPORTANT and should start as early as possible in order to have a well-behaved and well balanced dog. Even if you don’t take formal obedience classes, just get your dog out there around as many different animals, people, and stimuli as possible. And don’t forget to include plenty of daily exercise, exercise, exercise.
Training your dog is a win-win for both of you, and dogs love to learn!
